First day in Rajkot

So my travel partner, Stacy, and I arrived yesterday in Rajkot after a flight from Bangalore to Mumbai.  Rajkot is considered a small city in size but has 1.2 million in population and is the 4th largest city in the state of Gujarat.

Today our host took us on a small tour of the city, we went to the Watson Museum ,established by John Watson in 1888.  It has an electic mix of exhibits, artifics from the Harappan civilzation, 7th and 12th century sculptures, minature paintings, textiles, metal sculptures, coins and much more.  Unfortunately I was unable to take pictures as that was an additional cost and our host so generously paid our entrance.  In general museums are not common in India, according to our tour guide in Bangalore so the fact there was one in Rajkot was nice.  We also visited the Swaminarayan Temple where it is carved from stone, (the detail was amazing) and the state university and drove around to generally see the city.
One thing we noticed was how much attention we received everywhere we went.  While there are foreigners in the city I don't believe it is a normal occurance and we were very noticable where ever we went (could be the blond hair!).
